During the course of the past year we have continued work on the Attack Triangle in an effort to make it perform even better. When spikes to control slippage on ice was originally conceived I had envisioned it working better than it did in our first models. I also wanted the joints to stay together more firmly but still disassemble for transporting. Well, neither area met with our satisfaction so we continued to play, test and refine. Now we are pleased to say that we have accomplished these goals and the best part is if you already have an Attack Triangle you can do a simple upgrade and have the Pro Attack Triangle. If you intend on using the Attack Triangle at home the New Attack Triangles come with improved joints that work fine.
PS
you can order the Pro model at the same unit cost as
the home unit but must be purchased in sets of 2.
The following is on our new assembly instruction sheet and is designed to help you upgrade your units for higher performance. Upgrades can also be purchased from TTP Sports. Please call for the package 414-962-8842.
UPGRADES
LOCKING THE LEG/BRIDGE CONNECTION WARNING - Locking these connections will eliminate the breakaway safety feature of your Attack Triangle and may cause damage to the unit or player if fallen upon.
Tools & hardware - drill motor, 1/4" drill bit, (2) 3/4" X 10-24 pan head screws and nuts or wing nuts per unit. You may want to use locking washers to ensure nuts remain in place. Procedure: 1- Connect legs and bridge per assembly instructions. 2 - With a 1/4" drill bit drill through the leg and bridge connection using the Pilot Hole on top of the legs. 3 - Push the screws through the holes drilled in the leg/bridge connection. For better safety, direct the screw towards the inside of the unit.
LOCKING BRIDGE-STICK/STICK-BLADE CONNECTIONS - Tools & hardware - drill motor, 1/4" drill bit, (2) - 1 1/2" X 10-24 Pan Head Screws and nuts or wing nuts. You may want to use locking washers to ensure nuts remain in place. Procedure: 1- Connect all pieces then using a 1/4" drill bit, drill through the connections from the top of the assembled unit. (If upgrading multiple units measure the distance to place hole in the same position to ensure interchangeability.
ADDING ADDITIONAL SPIKES FOR ON-ICE USE - Tools & hardware - drill motor, a 1/8" drill bit, 3 - spikes (available at TTP Sports), a flat nose pliers, and a propane torch. Procedure: 1 - pre drill 1/8th deep holes in the pre-determined spots (1' from the heel of the skate and 7 3/4" from the sticks toe). 2 - Hold the spike with pliers so the threads are pointing out and heat with the torch for roughly 3-4 seconds. 3 - When the spike is hot enough to melt the plastic push it into the pre-drilled hole until all of the threads are in the plastic. Hold the spike in place until the plastic has cooled enough to hold the spike.
REMOVING SPIKES FOR OFF-ICE USE - Simply grab the spike with a flat-nosed pliers or 5/32 wrench and unscrew.
